Four year old Alfie only arrived in kennels last month but has already settled well and has shown what an affectionate lad he is. He walks well on the lead and greets other dogs politely when out on his daily walks. Alfie is a sociable boy too, getting on well with all the other greyhounds at kennels. More information will be posted as we get to know him but the last word has to go to Siobhan who, when summing him up says: he’s adorable! :)

Bruno was a quiet lad who just wanted love. It seems he had spent a great deal of time left outside so was very nervous of noise and the elements , rain particularly made him very afraid. He was always gentle with children and loved attention though. Over the two years I've had him his personality has come to the fore – and he now gets so excited when he meets other greys and people - and can cause havoc at fundraisers ! - It is so nice that he has progressed into a happy little soul, I couldn't be without him and love him absolutely.
Foster boy Bernie is our dog of the month for December. This lovely lad was found straying last month and luckily was able to go straight into foster care.Information we have on him is limitedbut he is thought to be about 4 years old, his carers describe him as a ‘lovely, gentle giant’.
Bernie has behaved well with all other dogs he has met and is currently living with a female Makants hound. These twoget on well and have been left together alone in the house on occasions without incident. Bernie has already been to a fundraising event and behaved well. He walks well on the lead and seems to behappy with short walks at the moment. However he recently enjoyed some off lead time in a secure field and enjoyed his ‘play time’.
The last word goes to his foster carers -‘he’s got such a loving nature you can’t help but fall in love with him’.

Belle (was Jennie) - adopted August 2016 Laura Waring who adopted Belle sent us this message: ... "Belle (was Jennie), and myself would like to wish Makants a Happy 3rd Birthday. Belle has settled in well, demands her daily walks, loves chasing squirrels and snuggling up in her new bed. Thank you to Makants for all the excellent work you do in re-homing these wonderful, gentle creatures. Love Laura and Belle". Thank you Laura for giving Belle such a lovely home.
" Autumn was adopted 22/11/15 and has just celebrated her first 'Gotcha' day. It feels like she has lived here forever, she is the most gorgeous greyhound that ever lived, she is the love of my life. You love all your dogs but sometimes you get an extra special one and she is one of mine".
Thank you Sylvia for giving Autumn such a lovely home.
Pauline who homed Alfie has this to say "We adopted our gorgeous boy Alfie (was known as Wolfie) in late July 2016 after being brought back to good health by Makants Greyhound Rescue and his loving foster family.
At first he was very shy and although well behaved he was quite withdrawn at the start. However, it seems all the TLC paid off and in their care and the care of his foster family the happy, relaxed, friendly personality that he never knew he had began to emerge. He’s continued to grow in confidence and continues to be well behaved and polite and such a quick learner, hard to imagine home without him now. We love him to the moon and back and say 'thanks' to Makants for bringing him to us "
"Albie (was David) came on home trial a year ago (27 November 2015) and he has been an absolute delight! He is quite accident prone so we have got to know our local vets very well! Albie has settled well and walks regularly with Swift his greyhound friend. He loves meeting people and is good with any children he meets too. Cats and squirrels are a different story! He loves being cuddled and playing with his toys and I wouldn’t be without him!"
